Traffic Server version 2.0.8
is now available for download.
Changes include:
-
Routing queries and reports are now available. With the unique
new "traffic-directed trace" feature, this data includes information about
delay, loss and routing-paths to the remote subnets that communicate most
with your site. Just set TraceEnabled = YES in your configuration
file to enable this data collection. It will cause traceroute messages
to be sent out to a UDP destination port 33435, which is one of the ports
that the unix command traceroute(1) normally uses. (We selected this
port to help minimise any alarms that might be triggered on remote firewalls).
-
Enhanced Interface counter charting. Interface counters are now
shown with the frame-related counters in a stacked line chart, and the
utilization trend shown as a separate, darker line. Where available,
input and output counters on an interface are separated so that output
is above the zero axis and input is below. Direct links to the counter
history are also available.
-
Cisco NetFlow. The receipt of Cisco NetFlow data has been
more tightly integrated. This improves performance. NetFlow agents
can now be listed explictly in an [agent] section in the configuration
file if you need to override the inherited "community" or "samplingRate"
setting for them. The probe.ini file is no longer required.
The inxprbd and inxProbe unix processes will not be running any more.
-
Polling other switches. Switches that do not support sFlow, HP Extended-RMON
or Cisco NetFlow can still be polled for interface counters. This
means they can still trigger threshold alarms, and host-location discovery
will still show which hosts are attached to their ports. However
when you select to see something like "top sources" there will be no flow
data to show. To turn on polling for a particular switch, identify
it with an [agent] section in your configuration file, and add the line
"pollCounters = YES" in that [agent] section. This pollCounters
setting must be repeated for every agent that you wish to poll in this
way, while the "community" setting can be inherited from the enclosing
[subnet], [zone], [site] or [enterprise] in the normal way.
-
Query Performance. Significant performance improvements in
history queries.
-
Switch down events. If the traffic server does not hear from
a switch for a few minutes, then it will attempt to ping the switch agent.
If there is no response then an e-mail event is generated.
-
Applet fonts. The font and font-size in the top-talkers and
segment counters applet can be adjusted by adding font and/or fontSize
parameters
to the URL that invokes them. For example. adding "&font=Arial&fontSize=16"
to the URL should illustrate this. This is useful if you are authoring
your own web pages and embedding charting applets that are smaller than
the default size.
-
Support for latest sFlow revision. The latest version of the
sFlow data format (version 2) is supported in Traffic Server 2.0.
